Rangers vs Celtic Scottish Cup referee announced as Steven McLean lands Hampden VAR role

Willie Collum will be the man in the middle for the blockbuster Scottish Cup semi-final Old Firm at Hampden this weekend.

Rangers and Celtic go head to head at the national stadium for the second time this season after Ange Postecoglou's men lifted the League Cup with a 2-1 win over the Light Blues. Kyogo Furuhashi was the hero that day and he will be looking to have another big say for his side as they aim to book a spot in the final.

Michael Beale's men are the holders of the competition and are desperate to stop Celtic's quest to land a domestic Treble and end the season with some silverware. They defeated Hearts in the showpiece last term as they bid to lift the famous old trophy in back to back seasons.

Daniel McFarlane and Dougie Potter will run the lines in Mount Florida with Don Robertson the fourth official on duty.

VAR will be operated at Hampden by Steven McLean with Frank Connor the assist VAR official on Sunday.

The winner of the last four clash will return to the south side for the end of season showpiece to face one of Falkirk or Inverness.

Both sides go into the meeting on the back of a mixed bag of Premiership results. The Hoops dropped rare points in a 1-1 draw at home to Motherwell while Rangers lost out 2-0 to Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Following the Hampden meeting the Glasgow rivals will face off one final time in the league with the split fixtures due to be announced by the SPFL.
