Rangers transfer update as starlet's exit from Ibrox off after interest fades despite trial goal screamer

Rangers youngster Ross McCausland will need to look elsewhere for senior football after a trial in Holland failed to result in a loan deal.

The Northern Irish youth international debuted for the Light Blues on the final day of last season's Premiership against Hearts and scored versus Elgin City for the Ibrox club's 'B' team this summer. He has been abroad at Dutch second tier club De Graafschap on trial and scored a fantastic solo goal during a trial match.

He danced his way in and around several defenders before a finish low into the bottom corner during a 2-0 win over Willem II. But it hasn't been enough to win him a deal as according to the Daily Record, they have now dropped their interest in him. McCausland also played the first half this week against FC Emmen in another friendly but it has not resulted in an extended Dutch stay.

More options for McCausland's future will now be assessed by Rangers after sending fellow youngsters Cole McKinnon and Tony Weston to Partick Thistle.

Josh McPake has also been heavily linked with a loan move to the Championship at Queen's Park and Kai Kennedy has joined Falkirk.

A raft of new faces have linked up with the Auchenhowie academy this summer too from down south and domestic clubs.
