Rangers transfer update as Malik Tillman 'set' to join from Bayern Munich on loan

Malik Tillman is set to join Rangers on loan from Bayern Munich, according to a report.

The 20-year-old is set to swap the Bundesliga giants for a season-long loan with Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men say the Glasgow Times. The Dutchman has been active in the transfer market in the last week or so as he continues to bolster his ranks ahead of their bid to try and win the Premiership title back from rivals Celtic and secure a spot in the Champions League group stages, with two rounds of qualifying to negotiate to secure a place at Europe's top table.

The highly-rated youngster would join Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and John Souttar at Ibrox this summer. The latter penned a pre-contract agreement earlier this year from Hearts while the other three all put pen to paper recently. Tillman is a full USA international after making his debut against Morocco earlier this year.

A deal for the playmaker would provide another major boost to Rangers boss Van Bronckhorst ahead of the big season opener against Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena in just over two weeks time.

Tillman featured on a handful of occasions for Bayern Munich's first team last term.

Calvin Bassey continues to attract interest going the other way with Brighton and Ajax keen on snapping up the versatile defender.

Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are also in the final 12 months of their current Ibrox deals as talks continue over extended terms.

Speaking to Sky Sports last week, the Ibrox boss confirmed: "We are in talks especially with players who will come into the last year of their contracts."
