Nikola Katic could be set to play in the Champions League after all following the revelation he has no long-term future at Rangers - with Maccabi Haifa interested in his services.
The Croatian defender has had a difficult few years at Ibrox, spending last season back on loan in his homeland with Hadjuk Split after a serious knee problem. Giovanni van Bronckhorst has already told him he's free to look for pastures news and fresh reports have claimed that Israeli side Maccabi Haifa are poised to swoop.
They have landed in the Champions League group stages this season and have a dream draw against PSG, Juventus and Benfica. Haifa have enquired about taking Katic on loan from Rangers and a permanent switch has not been ruled out. His former loan club, Hadjuk, were interested in a permanent deal but the asking price they would have to pay was deemed too high for them.

Haifa are one the 32 clubs involved in the elite European group stage, with Rangers in a four-team section alongside Ajax, Liverpool and Napoli.
Van Bronckhorst said of Katic earlier this summer: "I've spoken with Niko about his future with the club and we agreed it would be nice for Niko to get another club and play elsewhere.
"So his future for the next season will not be at Rangers. Of course, he has to find a club where he can play. We will help him with that and hopefully he will find a new challenge elsewhere."
