Rangers transfer target Lyall Cameron is on the bench for Dundee against Celtic.
It's understood the Ibrox side are interested in a move for the midfielder.
Rangers are thought to be exploring a move for the 22-year-old who is out of contract in the summer.
Cameron was not involved in the 1-1 draw between Rangers and Dundee last week but has returned to the matchday squad to face Celtic.
Tony Docherty has named the midfielder on the bench for the Scottish Premiership fixture.
A move for Cameron would fit in with the Rangers model to try and sign a young Scottish player to the squad every season where possible.
Rangers chief executive officer Patrick Stewart previously stated it would be likely the club will add "one or two" players in the January transfer window.
"The question of whether or not we do business is about both looking at the short-term impact but it's also going to have a long-term benefit as well," he said.

Hjalmar Ekdal is not thought to be a target for Rangers despite Philippe Clement navigating a challenging period with numerous injuries to defensive players.
“Lyall Cameron has been fantastic for this football club," Dundee boss Tony Docherty during his press conference on Monday.
"He has been absolutely brilliant and you look at his numbers, he has really kicked on. I threw the gauntlet down to him, that with Luke [McCowan] going, that he could step up. He had done that and stepped up to the plate.
“It is no surprise when a player like that is out of contract and there will be interest in him."
