Rangers transfer state of play on Roofe, Katic and Middleton as Dundee United contact revealed

Rangers star Kemar Roofe continues to be linked with a return to England this summer - but the Ibrox club have had no approaches for the striker.

EFL League One duo Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday have been named as interested parties since the transfer window opened However, Owls boss Darren Moore refused to be drawn over his club's stance on the 29-year-old former Leeds United forward, insisting he wouldn't discuss other clubs' players.

He said: "I can't be drawn into that because they are simply not our players to discuss at this moment." Roofe, a Jamaican international who arrived from Anderlecht in 2020, played a big part for Rangers last season, although boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has since added to his frontline with the signing of Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence, while he also has star man Alfredo Morelos returning from injury. Roofe, too, has been beset by injury issues during his spell in Scotland.

Meanwhile, Nikola Katic is weighing up his options for an Ibrox departure as he looks to reinvigorate his career. The Croatian centre-back, who missed the entire 2020/21 campaign through injury, has fallen well down the pecking order at Rangers and is now understood to be looking for his next destination.

Fellow defender Jack Simpson has also found first-team football hard to come by at Rangers and is another who could move on in this window if a suitable solution comes to the fore. Midfielder Stephen Kelly has interest from the Scottish Premiership, England and Europe. The 22-year-old is also in the final year of his Ibrox contract. He spent last season on-loan at Salford City.

Winger Glenn Middleton is another who could depart. The Scotland under-21 international, who was on-loan at St Johnstone last season, was wanted by Greek club Atromitos but they were unable to agree a deal and they have since signed another winger.

Dundee United have also spoken to Rangers but that deal also looks unlikely.
