Rangers transfer state of play on Martel, Pollard, Sissako and Stewart

The Premiership title race is far from over, but already Rangers are seemingly looking ahead to their next assault on the league crown.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst proved he meant business in the January transfer window with a number of high-profile captures, so anticipation is high ahead of his first summer in the Ibrox hotseat.

Juventus loanee Aaron Ramsey, American international James Sands and Manchester United prodigy Amad Diallo have had mixed reviews so far, but they show the calibre he wants around his club.

There's the futures of current stars to be decided too and it's likely there will be plenty of movement in and around Rangers in the near future.

Focus is on reclaiming their Premiership title, Scottish Cup glory and a historic Europa League triumph, but sporting director Ross Wilson will no doubt be making moves behind the scenes, for next season and beyond.

There hasn't been a shortage of targets so far and Record Sport takes a look at those linked.

Eric Martel

Germany Under-21 defender Martel has been told that he's free to leave Rangers' Europa League semi-final opponents RB Leipzig when the summer rolls around.

He is currently on loan at Austria Vienna and has made 30 appearances for them this season ahead of his German return at the end of this term.

Reports in his homeland suggest the 19-year-old is free to leave either permanently or on another loan with a year left to run on his contract.

Cologne, Union Berlin and Freiburg all reportedly want Martel - represented by former Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Sami Khedira - as a a defensive option too.

Lancelot Pollard

Rangers are looking to beat Premier League giants Liverpool to Aberdeen youngster Lancelot Pollard.

There's big interest in the young attacker and the Glasgow outfit are looking to splash out six figures in order to get this deal over the line.

Manchester United are also keeping tabs on one of the Dons' brightest talents, so Wilson and academy chief Craig Mulholland know they have to act quick.

Aberdeen could lose him for compensation fees when he is able to sign his first pro-forms.

Abdoulaye Sissako

The champions have reportedly entered into talks with Zulte Waregem battler Abdoulaye Sissako.

They are believed to be favourites to snap up the 23-year-old who would cost nothing with his contract expiring at the end of the Belgian first division season.

Belgian reports suggest that talks have already kicked off and is close to rubber-stamping his move to Scotland.

Another year is on the table for Sissako at Waregem but the midfielder wants to leave after finishing 16th in the 18-team league.

It wouldn't be the first time Wilson has ventured into Belgium after signing Fashion Sakala from Oostende last year.

Ross Stewart

The towering frontman has been in fine form for Sunderland this season and reports have suggested it's earned him a spot on the Rangers radar.

Stewart took his League One tally for the season to 24 goals in a 5-1 demolition of Cambridge United on Saturday, underlying why the Light Blues are after him.

His contract at the Stadium of Light expires next summer but current Premier League side Norwich City and Championship club Swansea City are also believed to be keen.

A return to Scotland and European football could prove appealing as the Canaries look destined to head back to the Championship.
