Giovanni Van Bronckhorst has not ruled out more Rangers incomings as the summer transfer window draws to a close – but it looks like some players will be shown the Ibrox exit.
The lure and financial impact of Champions League football for the first time in 12 years has Rangers fans hoping for more than the seven summer recruits already in place in Glasgow. Van Bronckhorst himself admitted that he felt his Light Blues squad had added 'quality' with the likes of on-form Antonio Colak and Malik Tillman, but said the door was open for some last-minute 'crazy' transfer goings on.
Yet it appears the main headlines surround players going out of Ibrox, with frozen out defender Niko Katic looking to end his Rangers journey with Hearts' Europa League conquerors FC Zurich being the intended destination. The Croatian defender has watched a chunk of his Ibrox career from the sidelines through injury, despite a trophy-winning spell on loan to Hadjuk Split last season. The side in his homeland, however, opted not to take up a reported £3million option to buy on his loan deal. Rangers have had to call on James Sands to deputise at centre-half in recent weeks, with Katic clearly well down the pecking order and Ben Davies and John Souttar both still unavailable.
Meanwhile Alfredo Morelos has seemingly salvaged his Rangers career with a marked 'attitude change' according to Van Bronckhorst. It comes after the Colombian was left out of the PSV triumph in Eindhoven last week. His final-year counterpart in Ryan Kent has been touted for a move to English Premier League side Leeds for some time, but it appears Jesse Marsch may look elsewhere with Cody Gakpo linked, and an assertion that Dan James may not leave the club.
Ex-loanee Amad Diallo has secured his move away from Old Trafford with another season-long loan looming to Sunderland. United haven't quite the got £37m benefits they were hoping for from the young Ivorian, despite flashes of impact at Rangers in the second half of last season. It appears the 19-year-old is not part of Erik Ten Hag's long-term plans with the Red Devils, with Diallo previously touted for a coincidental reunion with fellow ex-Gers loanee Aaron Ramsey at OGC Nice.
