It's been a busy summer already at Rangers and the rumours keep coming on who could be next through the door.
Michael Beale is in the midst of a summer rebuild and has already signed Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling, Jack Butland and Sam Lammers. But more are on the way, with Jose Cifuentes one man widely tipped as the next player set to waltz into his Premiership plans, with fans eager to see what is in store next. But it won’t be Cyriel Dessers, according to reports in Italy. More on him in a minute.
Added to that will be outgoings, with players like Glen Kamara and Scott Wright facing decisions on whether or not to continue their careers in blue. With more than two months remaining in the window, plenty will come and go between now and then, with the aim of wrestling Premiership title glory into their grasp on the agenda alongside Champions League group stage football. We look at the latest rumours surrounding the Ibrox club.
Cyriel Dessers
The Belgian forward has been widely touted as the man Beale wants to help replace outgoings such as Alfredo Morelos. But things look to have hit the buffers, according to Italian reports.
Calcio Mercato claim the Cremonese forward has said 'no to Rangers. It is stated that the 28-year-old 'would prefer to stay in Italy' amid growing interest. It was suggested earlier this month Torino could be on the case of Dessers. Wherever he goes, if it isn't Rangers, then it's a blow for Beale and his forward area plans.
Malik Tillman
Another ongoing rumour has surrounded the Bayern Munich loanee and whether or not his loan will be made permanent. Much like Dessers though, it seems to be a non-starter.
German reports over the weekend had suggested the option-to-buy agreement between Rangers and the German giants for Tillman had been scrapped. And now it has been claimed the club will be weighed in as part of that axeing.
The Light Blues will earn £1m compensation AND 10 per cent of any future sale. That could see a potential cashing in further down the line as interest in the American international heats up across Europe. With the playmaker now being valued at £10m, that would see Rangers rake in £2m for a player that wasn’t even theirs.
Lyndon Dykes and Tasos Douvikas
A double-barrelled bulletin with the same message at the end of both rumours. Scotland hero Dykes had reportedly put himself on the Rangers radar as a reunion with former QPR boss Beale was touted, while Greek striker Tasos Douvikas has also been mentioned.
He has attracted continental interest after impressive form for Eredivisie side Utrecht. But both of those forward deals appear unlikely, with the club seemingly not pursuing Douvikas while Dykes is not under consideration from Beale.
