Rangers transfer news latest as £7m Haji Wright 'bid' launched while Ben Davies not on Ibrox 'chopping block'

The Rangers rebuild is underway and Michael Beale is firing full steam ahead into his preparations for next season.

It doesn't take a lot to get rumours going. A simple family pic from England defender Conor Coady had some sections of the Ibrox fanbase wondering if he was Glasgow-bound, while retained lists are being combed over in search of bargain swoops. Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling are two players definitely part of the attempt to wrestle back Premiership title control, the attacking midfielder and right-back both signing on the dotted line.

But who else is Beale claimed to be after? There's plenty chat about Jack Butland, but the Man United back-up's future will be decided after the Red Devils play the FA Cup final on Saturday. And will Malik Tillman return from Bayern Munich after a loan spell at Rangers? Here are the latest transfer whispers surrounding the Ibrox club.

Haji Wright

The Antalyaspor striker is one player who has been linked to Beale's team for quite a while. And now Turkish reports claim that Rangers have made the first move to try and get him to Scotland.

According to Turkish journalist Ertan Süzgün, the Light Blues have made an offer of around £7 million for the American international. But this has been bounced back by the Super Lig club.

There's rival interest to contend with too. La Liga's Villarreal are also reportedly on the case but their €10m (£8.5m) bid has also been booted out, so should they be on the prowl, it would appear Rangers need to spend big.

Jose Cifuentes

A man on the lips of many in the Rangers support, Cifuentes is currently in the midst of a busy schedule with MLS side LAFC. But that very run of games could provide a clue to when he could transfer, according to Ecuadorian media.

Competing on Thursday in the Concacaf Champions League against Mexican side Leon, Mr Offsider claimed 'The Ecuadorian midfielder will play the finals of the Concachampions and will resolve his signing.' And that deadline isn't far away.

Down 2-1 from the away leg, the return leg in America is pencilled in for June 5th. So that match in the early hours of the morning could be key to when Cifuentes may be pictured in blue.

Ben Davies

The defender was a reported man heading for the exit door but new claims have thrown cold water on those suggestions. Football Scotland claim he is 'unlikely' to move this summer.

Davies signed for Rangers under Giovanni van Bronckhorst from Liverpool last summer. He is a 'high earner' and has the likes of Stoke City monitoring him.

But the report goes on to state that 'Davies is not a player on the chopping block amid the summer overhaul expected.' So, anticipate him to be fighting with the likes of Connor Goldson for a spot in defence.

Calvin Bassey

The Nigerian defender has not had it easy since his record-breaking move to Ajax. He has been hammered with criticism and De Telegraaf recently reported Premier League interest that could end his Dutch stint after a season.

Now FootballTransfers have a put a name to the claims, Brighton. The Seagulls are playing Europa League football next season and Roberto De Zerbi is looking to bolster his squad for that push.

Should any interest in Bassey progress, Rangers will be watching on closely. They have a sell-on clause of 10%, which will likely be worth seven figures when the versatile star does move on.
