Reported Rangers target Noah Sadiki is being chased by PSV and Lille according to reports as the Ibrox side face serious competition for his services.
Michael Beale hinted there are two or three "exciting" signings in the works as he looks to rebuild his squad this month and while things seem to be moving slowly, the boss had an air of quiet confidence as he addressed potential signings at his press conference on Tuesday. "No news isn't bad news" was the clear message from the Englishman, who is hoping to strengthen in a number of areas before the window closes.
18-year-old right-back Sadiki has been linked as he continues to impress with Anderlecht and Jeunes Footeux have the latest on the talented Belgian. They say that Lille are the frontrunners but note that Rangers and PSV are also "very interested." He could provide depth behind James Tavernier and compete with Adam Devine to be the skipper's long-term heir.
Elsewhere, Beale directly addressed interest in Swansea forward Morgan Whittaker. Record Sport revealed there have been talks over the youngster who spent the first half of the season with Plymouth Argyle, although we understand the Welsh team's valuation has not yet been met.
Beale said: "He's a player that we know. I think he's a good player. He's certainly a player that I'm aware of. We're looking at all the areas but obviously we want to bring more goals into the club. We need goalscorers in the building."
Could he join Todd Cantwell at Ibrox? There are swirling reports of a deal being agreed and Rangers do appear to be one of the frontrunners, but various English Championship clubs are still hopeful of striking a deal so it still looks some way from being done.
One player who won't be joining, it seems, is Everton's Tom Davies. Beale appeared to suggest a deal could be on last week but he's now backtracked, saying: "There is no interest on our side towards Tom.
"There has been no talk about Tom. You caught me on the hop that day and I said a couple of nice things about him because he is a young British player who I saw coming through as a young player.
"I am pleased to see his progress, he plays for a fantastic football club and I think that is where he is going to be. He is not going to be a Rangers player in the future."
