Rangers transfer news bulletin as Mateusz Zukowski move nears and Jack Simpson departure in the balance

Robbie Neilson joked that he expects a call from Ibrox after Rangers shipped three goals against Ross County at the weekend.

John Souttar has already penned a pre-contract with the champions but Gio van Bronckhorst might want him now after slamming his sloppy defenders in Dingwall.

However, the Ibrox club’s transfer business on deadline day isn’t restricted to exploring the possibility of getting Souttar in.

The Light Blues are also preparing to make a move for young Polish full back Mateusz Zukowski who currently plays for Lechi Gdansk.

A £400,000 bid is in the offing and given he is likely to replace Nathan Patterson in the Rangers squad after his £12 million move to Everton then it is a profitable trade.

With Zukowski likely to check in at Ibrox, there is a fair chance he will pass Jack Simpson heading in the opposite direction.

The former Bournemouth man has failed to cut it at Ibrox and his short time in Glasgow is set to come to an end.

However, The Athletic report that while Swansea and Middlesbrough would both be interested in a loan move, the Ibrox side only want a permanent deal.

Vitesse Arnhem skipper Danilho Doekhi would be a significant upgrade in the central defensive position and if a pre-contract can be agreed with the Dutchman then it will be a real coup.

Amada Diallo has been brought in on loan and made a scoring debut against the Staggies while goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin penned a contract extension.

As the clock ticks down, another to watch for Rangers fans is Xavi Simons at PSG although the French giants are in action against Nice in the French Cup tonight.
