Reported Rangers target Auston Trusty has been talking to his USA teammates about his future ahead of a potential move this summer.
Arsenal defender Trusty was Birmingham City's Player of the Year last season and he's been linked with a move to Ibrox. For now, he's focused on the CONCACAF Nations League as the US face three games kicking off against Mexico in the early hours of Friday morning.
Powerhouse defender Trusty, who signed for the Gunners 18 months ago but has struggled to force his way into Mikel Arteta's first team, is reportedly on the agenda for Michael Beale as he seeks to rejuvenate his defence having already signed Dujon Sterling from Chelsea. And he admits his future beyond this summer, as he gets set to leave Arsenal after an impressive season in the English Championship, has been weighing on his mind.
He said: "I definitely speak to the other players (about potential moves) because we’ve all been in these environments. The football world is very small, so if you’re in a situation a lot of guys have been in, it’s good to talk to people here because not too many people, at least around me, other than my agent and the team, are going to understand the ins and outs fully.
"We all talk about it all day, all different scenarios and situations, which is good and helps me figure things out. But my mind really is focused on the national team right now. It’s hard for me to focus on (the transfer window) because it’s almost like I’m doing a discredit to the national team because it’s such an honour and privilege to be here."
It comes as Rangers close in on deals for Serie A strikers Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers. Atalanta's Lammers is reportedly further along with a £3.5m deal seemingly imminent while Dessers still has work to be done.
It's all gone relatively quiet on the Cremonese frontman after Record Sport revealed the first formal offer had been lodged. But the latest reports suggested a compromise had been reached with the Italian side dropping their price from £6.5m to £5m and there's nothing yet to suggest a snag in negotiations with Dessers potentially lined up for an announcement once Lammers has been signed, sealed and delivered.
