Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall has confirmed the club are close to a deal to sign Rangers talent Cole McKinnon.
The teenager has put pen to paper on a new Ibrox deal until 2025 after showing his promise in their Lowland League 'B' team. He also netted on the final day of the Premiership season at Hearts but a loan exit is set to beckon as he aims to build more senior experience. Rangers team-mate Tony Weston has already joined the Jags on a season-long loan deal.
Auchenhowie academy products have regularly gone to Partick Thistle for senior experience in recent seasons - including players like Lewis Mayo and Zak Rudden - with McCall set to sign another for his Championship plans. Already this summer, Thistle have signed Anton Dowds, Harry Milne, David Mitchell, Steven Lawless, Jack McMillan and Aaron Muirhead, facing Kilmarnock tomorrow on Premier Sports Cup duty.

Speaking of transfer business, McCall said: "I am pretty sure there will be another one, possibly two, in the squad for Wednesday.
"I can't really talk about them yet but one of them is close, and another is 99.9% done. That would mean we are close to where we want to be, maybe short of a striker and a defender.
"I don't think it's a secret that he (McKinnon) is one we are very keen on. That is very close."
Weston's arrival has been confirmed and McCall believes it's a good addition: "He trained with us this morning. He can play anywhere across a front three.
"He's a hard-working player with ability. He scored 35 or 36 goals last season and we hope to help him develop. We hope he has a productive season here.
"He's now joined the group and like everyone else he has to work hard to get into the team. He's certainly got something."
