Barry Ferguson reckons the transfer model at Rangers is clear - buy young and sell for as high a profit as possible.
The Light Blues banked big money on Calvin Bassey this summer, who joined Champions League Group A rivals Ajax in a deal worth in excess of £20million. He arrived from Leicester City's academy as an unknown quantity two years ago while they also sold Joe Aribo to Southampton for millions, having initially pulled him from Charlton for six figures.
Former captain and midfielder Ferguson reckons manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a hands-on boss and will be taking plenty to do with the development of key assets on the training field. Then, Rangers may look to cash in when the time is right. Speaking on Go Radio, he said: "Giovanni likes to do most of the sessions and likes to improve players. Look at Rangers' signings.

"That's the kind of model that Rangers are looking to try and do. That has been shown with the summer departures of Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey.
"A lot of fans maybe aren't happy with the squad but the manager is. He think it is going to develop even better. Time will tell."
