Rangers transfer bulletin with Theo Bongonda 'targeted' as imminent Joe Aribo move sparks spending frenzy

It all seems to have kicked off at Rangers in the last 24 hours with news of Joe Aribo's imminent move to the Premier League bursting the transfer dam.

Fans had been frustrated by a slow start but news that Aribo has told the club he wants out seems to have sparked things into life. Southampton remain the favourites to land the Englishman who could move for up to £10m - a relative bargain considering his age and his performances for much of last season.

Record Sport first revealed interest from the south coast club back in December and they have now stepped it up - although the likes of Crystal Palace and Fulham are yet to give up hope of hijacking the deal. For Rangers, though, attentions have already turned to replacing his creative influence, and one name that has emerged in the last few hours is Congolese attacker Theo Bongonda .

Footnews in Belgium say Rangers have set their sights on the Genk winger, having landed Ianis Hagi, Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala from Belgian football in recent years. Bongonda finds himself in a similar position to Aribo, coming off the back of a good season but out of contract in 12 months, and he'd be available for around £6m.

An electric winger, the 26-year-old can play on the left or the right and has racked up 56 goal involvements in 111 games for Genk. He managed 13 goals last season and, despite interest from the UAE, it's said he is keen to play European football next season.

The next signing Rangers are expected to make, however, is Croatian striker Antonio Colak . Previously prolific for Malmo and Rijeka among others, he finds himself out of favour at PAOK after a disappointing finish to last season.

They're prepared to part with him for around £2.5m, and multiple reports in Greece say an agreement has now been struck to take him to Ibrox. It's just a case of putting the finishing touches on a deal now with Colak set to fly out to Glasgow to get the deal over the line. Should things dramatically go south, Finnish striker Kai Meriluoto - currently at Alfredo Morelos' former club Helsinki - is reportedly an option.

And last but by no means least, the Ibrox side are also lining up a deal for St Mirren starlet Dylan Reid . As reported by Record Sport earlier on Wednesday, the teenager has caught the eye of recruitment scouts and Gers are now prepared to put a six-figure sum on the table.

The Scotland youth cap became the youngest player in Saints' history last season when he made his debut and he is also attracting major interest from Crystal Palace and Portuguese giants Benfica. The 17-year-old would be expected to go into the Rangers' B-team in the Lowland League, with the club building a promising array of youth talent.

They have gone out and bought Bailey Rice from Motherwell, Lancelot Pollard from Aberdeen, Partick Thistle’s Cammy Cooper and Kieron Willox from Inverness. Rangers have also been active south of the border bringing in Zak Lovelace from Millwall, Everton’s Cameron Bell and Archie Stevens from AFC Wimbledon.
