Rangers transfer bulletin as Borna Barisic 'interest' resurfaces while Steven Gerrard offered Cameron Archer advice

It's already been a busy summer for Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst but the business doesn't look to be over yet with the league season just 24 hours away.

Ben Davies, Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence, John Souttar and Malik Tillman have all arrived at Ibrox with the Dutchman setting his sights on the Scottish Premiership title before the opening day clash with Livingston. The Light Blues boss and sporting director Ross Wilson could also be looking to cut their cloth with Nikola Katic and Jack Simpson facing uncertain futures, but links touting Borna Barisic with a move away from Glasgow have also emerged.

The Croatian international impressed on Rangers route to the Europa League final last season as he recaptured his best form under Van Bronckhorst, and has been a key part of the pre-season plans. The 29-year-old faces a fight for a starting spot at left-back this season following the arrival of Turkey cap Ridvan Yilmaz from Besiktas, which has reportedly put Trabzonspor on red alert.

Reports earlier this summer had suggested that the Turkish champions held an "official meeting" with Rangers over a potential move away from the Scottish Premiership. Fotomac report that the club have put Barisic back on "the agenda" as the club ramp up their preparation for the Champions League.

In terms of arrivals, the chances of landing a loan move for Cameron Archer could be fading. The 19-year-old produced several eye-catching displays last season while with Preston and has impressed during pre-season with Aston Villa.

Deepdale boss Ryan Lowe had been looking to bring the England youth cap back to the English Championship this summer, and has held talks with Steven Gerrard over the prospect of a move. However, he reckons the Ibrox boss should keep Archer in the English Premier League next term.

Speaking to Lancs Live , Lowe said: "I don't want to get too caught up in this thing of other club's players again. Ultimately, he is Aston Villa's player and I have to be careful what I say. I speak to Stevie (Gerrard) on a regular basis and what I will say is that he's scoring goals for Aston Villa as we speak.

"They have got nine subs this season and they can use five subs. So, I am not telling Stevie what to do, but I know what I'd be doing. He has obviously gone back, been a breath of fresh air and is doing well there. If Cameron Archer became available, every club in the Championship would be interested in him. But ultimately, until that happens, we can't talk about it."

Earlier this summer, Oscar Gloukh was also tipped with a move to Ibrox amid reports Rangers had sent scouts to watch the Israel international. It has been claimed that Maccabi Tel Aviv are willing to sell the 18-year-old for a knock-down price.

According Israeli outlet Sport 1 , there has been a dispute between Gloukh’s father and Maccabi coach Vladimir Ivic over a potential exit. That saw the prospect handed just two minutes of actions during the club's Europa Conference League win over FC Zira.

Israel legend Eyal Berkovic has now claimed to have heard that the asking price for the teenager is to be slashed. He said: "A month ago, at the European Youth Championship, the star was Oscar Gloukh. On Thursday, he played for two minutes. Tell me, Maccabi, are you crazy?

“We want Oscar Gloukh in Europe. Maccabi Tel Aviv refuses to sell him because of a price tag of 8 or 10 million euros. But I believe he will be sold for 3-4 million."
