Rangers told they're 'taking the bait' over Old Firm jibes as 'cringe' Ibrox branding slammed

Tam McManus has told Rangers that they are "taking the bait" from Celtic fans after their derby day branding.

The 'Old Firm' branding covered Ibrox ahead of the crucial top of the table Premiership showdown on Sunday, which Celtic won 2-1 to go six points clear at the top of the table.

Callum McGregor and James Tavernier led the teams out under an arch with the traditional name for the derby emblazoned on a blue background, reports The Daily Record.

Rangers also attempted to make their point with electronic advertising boards filling the stadium stating 'This is the Old Firm'.

The name for Scottish football's showpiece match has been a bone of contention with Celtic fans opting for the 'Glasgow derby' post-2012.

It was also one of the issues that caused the club to pull out of the Sydney Super Cup tournament.

However, former Hibs striker McManus branded the efforts from Rangers "cringe."

In a scathing verdict on Twitter, the pundit wrote: "Literally no one cares if some fans call it the Glasgow Derby.

"For me it’s banter from opposition fans and Rangers are taking the bait big time.

"(I) Don’t know why they are making such a big deal out of this. (It) Was cringe seeing these pictures and the big Old Firm at the tunnel Sunday."
