Rangers to 'offer' to end Celtic away fan lockout as Old Firm allocation gridlock could be OVER for first derby

Rangers are said to be ready to end the away fan lockout at Old Firm derbies, according to a report.

Ibrox CEO James Bisgrove hinted earlier this year that away Celtic supporters would be offered to attend the Glasgow Southside stadium, but that a maximum of 700 to 800 briefs would be dealt out due to demand in the Rangers home end. The final two derby clashes of the season last campaign were played with no travelling fans after the clubs were at a gridlock with Record Sport revealing that the Hoops were looking to return to an allocation similar to their spot in the Broomloan Stand in years gone by.

And now, according to the Scottish Sun, the Light Blues are preparing to offer their rivals 700 briefs for the first derby of the new season at Ibrox on September 3. Bisgrove confirmed the maximum of 800 when quizzed at a press conference as he revealed talks were ongoing with the Parkhead powerbrokers and Police Scotland over safety and security concerns.

Brendan Rodgers side will travel to face Michael Beale and co on the fourth game of the domestic season, before the two will meet at Celtic Park on December 30.

In an interview in May, Bisgrove said: "It's definitely an area we're going to look at and we're going to have dialogue with all the right stakeholders and authorities. Be that Police Scotland, be that Celtic, we hear and we recognise all the different viewpoints on that. Absolutely we're going to look at that and then see where those discussions go in terms of next season."
