Rangers team news v St Mirren confirmed as Morelos handed chance while youngster gets squad place

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has named his starting XI for today's match at St Mirren.

A minor injury to number nine Antonio Colak gives Alfredo Morelos a chance to stake his claim in the final game before the Premiership's World Cup break. Midfielder Ryan Jack also returns to the squad as the Light Blues look to cut Celtic's lead at the league summit to four points ahead of their match with Ross County later today. Youth striker Robbie Ure is also on the bench for more attacking reinforcement.

Winger Scott Wright said ahead of today's Rangers match in Paisley: "It’s been a bit up and down for myself, I thought I finished the season strongly last year especially as a team. We tried to carry that through to pre-season and as a team we’ve been a bit up and down as well trying to find consistency. It’s about keeping my head down in training and trying to show the manager that I want to be here in the team and fight for my spot.

“I’ve been trying to get in the team and grab that spot to make it my own, but I’m not here to complain about it, I’m here to show the boss if I get the chance that I can stay in the team. I want to bring my qualities whenever I can."

Rangers XI: McGregor, Tavernier, Sands, King, Barisic, Lundstram, Kamara, Tillman, Wright, Kent, Morelos.

Subs: McLaughlin, Jack, Davis, Matondo, McCann, Arfield, Devine, Yfeko, Ure.
