Rangers target Dujon Sterling 'rejects Chelsea deal' amid Ibrox interest

Rangers target Dujon Sterling has reportedly rejected a new contract offer from Chelsea.

The defender, 23, is out of contract in the summer and is wanted by Michael Beale.

However, Sterling is not short of offers with Chelsea and Stoke also keen on his services.

Full-back Sterling spent last season on loan at Stoke City from Chelsea but will reportedly knock back both clubs amid interest from Rangers.

The Scottish Sun claim Sterling has snubbed offers from both clubs leaving the pathway clear for a free transfer move to Ibrox.

The player is comfortable on either side of the defence and has regularly played at right-back and right-wing-back.

Sterling previously commented on his versatility: “It’s never a bad thing being able to play in a number of positions.

"The fact I can play in a number of positions is beneficial to me and the team.”

Quizzed on a move for Sterling, Beale said: "There's a lot of speculation and names, lots of good players which is nice that they're being linked with us but until anything's concrete we don't want to talk about any individual players.

"Out of respect for their clubs and the players as well."

Asked if he remembers coaching the players as a youngster at Chelsea, Beale added: "Yeah but not since 07/08 since I saw him.

"He's a good player but I don't want to say much more than that."
