Rangers' Sydney Super Cup Plan B revealed as Gio van Bronckhorst chases the sun during World Cup shutdown

Rangers are reportedly set to travel for a winter training camp during the World Cup break.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men were initially scheduled to take part in the controversial Sydney Super Cup - which would have seen them face Celtic in a friendly. But after fierce protests from Gers supporters, those plans were eventually axed. Instead, the Europa League runners-up will enjoy some warm weather as they prepare for the crucial second stage of the season. It's understood that Rangers will line-up some friendlies during December.

The Ibrox side play their last match against Hearts on November 9 then aren't back in action until December 15. Van Bronckhorst will be hoping his threadbare squad can limp on for another month as injuries have started piling up. Connor Goldson, John Souttar and Filip Helander are out long-term and it remains to be seen when they will return.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen head to Atlanta on November 14 for a training camp. The Dons are in strategic partnership with Atlanta United which is geared towards boosting football and commercial operations for both clubs. Jim Goodwin's side will tackle an Atlanta XI in a friendly match during the camp.
