FORMATION: 4-3-3
GOALKEEPER
ALLAN MCGREGOR 7
Easily had his best season in a Rangers shirt last season, but hasn’t hit the same heights this term. In saying that, the veteran goalkeeper has produced some of his best performances in Europe and the Ibrox club would not be in the position they are without him. He will be key in Seville.
DEFENDERS
JAMES TAVERNIER 9
The captain has led by example this season and his numbers from right-back have again been hugely impressive. Tavernier is the club’s top goalscorer in the Europa League with seven goals and it would be no surprise to see him on the scoresheet again. He’s been questioned defensively in the past, but this season he has been a rock.
CONNOR GOLDSON 8
Uncertainty surrounds the future of Goldson with him currently heading out of contract in the summer. His performances both this season and last certainly merit a big-money move, but it remains to be seen whether he will continue his spell in Glasgow. A colossus at the back and so important.
CALVIN BASSEY 8
Whether Bassey has been utilised at left-back or centrally, you always know what you are getting, a strong defensive display. The 22-year-old has had to bide his time, but he has now taken his chance and is a favourite amongst fans. His pace at the back and determination to be first to the ball is outstanding. Never shy of bombing forward into the attack too.
BORNA BARISIC 6
The Croatian was one of the first names on the team sheet for Rangers under Steven Gerrard, but he has been in and out under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The discovery of Bassey this term has limited his game time, but he has come back in at left-back to allow Bassey to play centrally in recent weeks. It remains to be seen if this will be the case against Frankfurt, but Barisic’s delivery from the left could be a huge advantage.
MIDFIELDERS
JOHN LUNDSTRAM 8
Many had Lundstram written off as a Rangers player and there was speculation linking him with a move away from Ibrox in January. Since then though, the silky scouser, as Rangers fans like to call him, has been simply phenomenal. Defensively strong, impressive on the ball and chipping in with key goals, there is no end to his talents. An unbelievable asset to the Gers squad.
RYAN JACK 7
Injuries again plagued the first half of the season for Ryan Jack, but he has come into the team after recovering and has been so important. His battling qualities and ability to keep the ball under pressure have allowed others to go and express themselves. Such an important figure to this Rangers side.
GLEN KAMARA 6
Was a mainstay under Steven Gerrard but slipped out the team for a period when Giovanni van Bronckhorst was first given the job. Kamara has battled his way back into the reckoning though and his performances in recent times have been back to their best. His energy and quality on the ball could prove vital in the scorching heat against Frankfurt.
ATTACKERS
SCOTT WRIGHT 6
Has admitted himself that he has only been in the team of late due to injuries, but Wright has shown how much the opportunity means to him. The former Aberdeen man always gives 100 per cent and does have a spark in the final third. Wright hardly featured up until the tail end of the league campaign but could easily become a Rangers legend with a big display.
JOE ARIBO 7
Started the season off so well and many had him down as an early tip for player of the campaign. His performances eased off after the Africa Cup of Nations, but he is slowly regaining his form again. Has had to learn the number 9 role in recent weeks with Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe out injured and he will likely be utilised there again in Seville. A big performance is needed.
RYAN KENT 8
A key performer in Europe. The winger has had a relatively quiet domestic campaign, but he has lit up the Europa League. His pace and trickery are a joy to watch at times and with no recognised striker, Rangers will rely on a big creative shift from Kent in the final third.
