Rangers starter subbed off just 29 minutes into Ferguson's first match in dugout

Barry Ferguson didn't make any changes to the Rangers side that lost 2-0 to St Mirren for his first match in charge at Rugby Park.

The Ibrox interim boss named an unchanged side from the team beaten in Philippe Clement's final match at the helm in Govan.

However, Ferguson did make his first in-game decision of his time in charge after just 29 minutes.

After a nightmare start, with Kilmarnock racing into a two-goal lead, Ferguson subbed off starting centre-back Clinton Nsiala.

The defender struggled up against Marley Watkins and was partly at fault as he and Nico Raskin failed to tackle Brad Lyons as he fired home the second goal for the hosts.

Ferguson opted to remove the defender as he looked to change the tide of the match with the hosts pushing for a third goal.

Ridvan Yilmaz replaced Nsiala just before the half-hour with the defender slotting into his preferred right-back position.

James Tavernier was moved to centre-back to partner Robin Propper.

The Ibrox captain has played as a central defender on a handful of occasions this season, including against Manchester United for a spell in the Europa League match.
