Rangers star Nicolas Raskin scores Belgium Under-21 double as he stars in win over Israel

Nicolas Raskin hit a double as his Belgium Under-21 side picked up victory over Israel in a friendly match.

The Rangers star is yet to find the back of the net for his new club, but he was on the goal trail for the international team as he fired home twice in the space of 14 second half minutes to secure victory for the Red Devils.

His first goal came on 51 minutes as he fired home from inside the box after a nice, flowing move from his side. He was on hand at the end to smash the ball home after being heavily involved in the build-up. His second on 65 minutes found its way into the net via the aid of a huge deflection. His initial effort was on target but the nick off the defender took the ball in the opposite direction leaving the opposition goalkeeper with no chance whatsoever.

The midfielder has established himself as a key player at club level since Michael Beale swooped for his services in January and he's making the same impact at international level on the Under-21 scene.

To date he has made 16 appearances for the Light Blues but is yet to register a goal. However, he has made a telling impact alongside fellow winter signing Todd Cantwell with the duo quickly establishing themselves as fans' favourites and first picks in the midfield area.

He is certain to play a vital part for Beale next term as he bids to end Celtic's stranglehold on the domestic game and safely navigate two round of qualifying in the Champions League to reach the lucrative group stage once again.

It's been a busy summer so far at Ibrox with four new faces already secured for the campaign ahead with Atalanta striker Sam Lammers the latest name to pen on the dotted line as he joins pre-contract trio Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland in committing his future to the men from Govan.
