Rangers star makes 'top class players' statement after giving Giovanni van Bronckhorst food for thought in Scottish Cup

Rangers midfielder Alex Lowry says training with some of the best in Scottish football will only help him in his goal to reach the top.

The teenager - who hails from Uddingston and graduated from Motherwell's Braidhurst high school - impressed from the bench in Rangers' 3-0 Scottish Cup fifth round win over Annan on Saturday.

It came after a good debut against Stirling Albion in which he scored last month and a first Premiership bow versus Livingston.

Aaron Ramsey, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield are just some of the experienced pros the Uddingston teen is training with, and he says it's been a brilliant experience.

He will now push for a regular starting spot in boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst's plans.

Lowry told Rangers TV: "I was delighted to get more minutes and thankful to the boss and staff again to be given the opportunity. Just delighted.

"We are training with top class players day in day out so it is only going to stand us in good stead if we want to continue playing for this club.

"There are always expectations on you so it is good."
