Rangers star Kemar Roofe to stand trial in Glasgow on careless driving charge

Rangers star Kemar Roofe will stand next month accused of careless driving.

It's alleged he committed the offence in the Govan area in March last year.

It is claimed the Jamaican international was behind the wheel of his black Audi Rs 6 when he drove without due care or attention, and that he undertook several vehicles then pulled into the lane causing other drivers to break hard.

Roofe is also charged with the registration mark of his car not being fixed on the vehicle.

It is claimed this was displayed on the windscreen.

Roofe is further accused of not having the correct details on his licence, failing to surrender it to the Secretary of State and failing to provide the particulars of the alterations in the name and address on it.

He also faces two charges that he used the motor vehicle without a test certificate and that the registered keeper's address was out of date.

Roofe, of Bearsden, last played for the Gers in their UEFA Europa League final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt over a week ago.

Michael Lyon, defending, told Glasgow's Justice of the Peace court today: "I adhere to the pleas of not guilty and the defence case is fully prepared.

"I have productions I will make available to my friend's office and I will discuss certain matters prior to trial."

Prosecutor Jennifer Gilmour told the court that the Crown are prepared for trial and police witnesses have been cited.

Justice Morag Wilson set a trial for the end of June and ordained Roofe to appear.
