Rangers star Borna Barisic makes late cameo as Croatia secure Nations League Final spot in thriller

Borna Barisic made a late cameo for Croatia as they secured a spot in the Nations League Final.

The Rangers defender was named on the bench to start against the Netherlands with former Celtic full-back Josip Juranovic in from the start for Zlatko Dalic's side in the last four showdown as they stunned their Dutch hosts to set up a meeting with either Spain or Italy as they bid to land silverware.

Donyell Malen handed the hosts the lead with ten minutes of the first period to play before Andrej Kramaric levelled from the spot early in the second half. Croatia then turned the game on it's heading into the final 20 minutes as Mario Palasic fired home.

But the Dutch forced extra-time in the sixth minute of injury-time thanks to Noa Lang. However, their momentum was short lived as Bruno Petkovic scored Croatia's third of the night eight minutes into the additional 30 before superstar and skipper Luka Modric scored from the penalty spot with four minutes to play to secure a stunning win in a six-goal thriller.

Ex-Celtic defender Juranovic - now with Union Berlin - played for 78 minutes before he was replaced by Josip Stanisic while Barisic added to his cap haul in the final minute of extra-time as he replaced skipper Modric.

Speaking to Croatia's Nova TV, Dalic said: "It's a victory for the Croatian people, we beat the Netherlands in front of their fans, Croatia has one more medal..

"It's impossible, unreal, but she deserves it. Surely this is a victory which will go down in history."

"We have bronze and silver, let's go for gold so that we can finish this story."
