Rangers have received gushing praise from Eintracht Frankfurt for their part in the Europa League Final.
The German side have been celebrating wildly after lifting the trophy for the first time since 1980 with a penalty shoot-out win in the Ramon-Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on Wednesday.
But they took time out to pay tribute to their opponents in Seville after Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men pushed them all the way before wishing them well in this weekend’s Scottish Cup final.
Eintracht Frankfurt hadn’t met the Ibrox side since a famous 12-4 aggregate win over Scot Symon’s men to reach the 1960 European Cup final at Hampden Park.
And on their social media account they posted an image of a Rangers pendant from Wednesday and the title ‘Rangers, it was an honour for us!’
They added: “You were a fantastic opponent with your countless fans. Together we showed how football should be!
“Emotional, passionate and fair. Greatness is revealed in defeat, especially in such dramatic fashion.
“Just like 62 years ago you are a great club. See you soon. Bring home the Cup this weekend. You earned it.”
