Chris Sutton was quick to stir the pot after Rangers’ dramatic 2-2 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie — a result that kept Celtic waiting to be crowned Scottish Premiership champions.
With Rangers trailing 2-0 and down to ten men, Celtic fans were already bracing for title celebrations.
But Hamza Igamane's strike four minutes after the restart before a sublime stoppage-time Ianis Hagi goal rescued a point for the visitors, ensuring the title race remains mathematically alive — at least for now.
The comeback prompted a typically cheeky response from Sutton, who posted on X:
“Rangers broke the world record for celebrating draws today…”
The former Celtic striker’s dig sparked a flurry of reaction online, especially given the implications of the result. A Rangers defeat would have officially handed Celtic a fourth consecutive league title..
Rangers, with one eye on Thursday’s Europa League second leg against Athletic Bilbao, made nine changes and fielded a heavily rotated side.
After a rocky first half — which included a red card for Ross McCausland and goals from Leighton Clarkson and Pape Gueye — they produced a spirited second-half showing to snatch an unlikely draw.
Rangers' Findlay Curtis and Nicolas Raskin were seen celebrating towards the Aberdeen supporters located in the Main Stand when Hagi salvaged a point. Whilst, tensions boiled over between the two sides once referee Steven McLean blew the full-time whistle.
The result may not change the eventual outcome of the title race, but it gave Sutton all the ammo he needed to take aim once again at his old rivals.
