Rangers punters are peddling an all time myth and that's bad news for Gio - Hotline

The heat is on Rangers and Gio van Bronckhorst today as the Ibrox men look to get back on the victory trail after three damaging defeats on the spin.

Dundee United are in Glasgow but some Gers fans are backing the boss to halt the slide and get back in business. Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: “I read all this hysteria from Rangers fans about sacking GVB. Every manager has bad results, I’m sure he’ll fix it.

“I am a Rangers fan and I would like the guy to at least get a chance.” Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, said: “There is too much chopping and changing the side, even when they were easily winning. Common sense tells you to play Colak and Morelos – his best two goal scorers – together.

“Rangers can still turn their season around and win the league, you just keep the faith.”

But Jamie Thompson, Clydebank, said: “The situation at Rangers is a real concern.

“There have been abject failings from van Bronckhorst, Ross Wilson and the current chairman and board. Other clubs have improved this summer but not this Rangers team, which is a disgrace.”

Meanwhile Steve McSherry, Uddingston, said: “I’m fed up reading about how plucky Rangers were against Napoli. The truth of the matter is that Napoli simply stepped up a gear and blew them away. The gulf in class was clear for all to see.”

Charles Buchannan emailed: “It’s funny how when Celtic were brilliant in the first half against Real Madrid callers were quick to point out that we got hammered 3-0.. All of a sudden the Rangers score was acceptable because they played a bit better than previously and Celtic's group is so poor that even Rangers would qualify from it. You couldn't make it up.”

Eddie Easson Ballingry , said: “All is not too happy at Ibrox. The summer recruitments not up to scratch according to GVB.

“They are now depending on the old men in the team. McGregor back between the sticks the ostriches have forgotten about the howlers last season.

“They said the heart was back in the team, aye right, six bookings and a sending off on Wednesday for crude tackles.

“Let’s hope the Scottish refs take this onboard because Rangers have got away with murder this season.”

Celtic grabbed a point in Poland against Shakhtar Donetsk and Dennis Bruce, Bishopbriggs, said: “When Postecoglou arrived at Celtic, initially his results were patchy until his squad bought fully into his methods and then the wheels of success began turning.

“The team's first two forays in its Champions' League section have been similarly patchy but confidence in his methods will pay dividends.”

But John Stewart, Newton Mearns, said: “Watching the Celtic game and it’s very very poor that they couldn’t take three points from a team that’s starting from scratch this year after losing 15 players last season.

“If Celtic can’t get at least second place in such an easy group it’s an embarrassment.”

Kenny Goff emailed: “All the Scottish teams in Europe have been nothing short of abysmal and down right shocking. The only time they deserve to go into Europe is on holiday at the end of the season.”

Erm, at least Hearts won.
