Rangers predicted XI v Union Saint-Gilloise as replacements for Kent and Souttar tipped

Rangers are in action this evening against Union Saint-Gilloise over in Belgium - and there will be few bigger team selection this season.

We may only be one game into the season but matchday two is pivotal. Light Blues boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst takes his team into Champions League third qualifying round first leg action, one of potentially four games that could seal their passage into a lucrative group stage spot. Doing will not be easy though with key men out the match.

They knew that forward Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe were likely to miss the battle but now defender John Souttar and Ryan Kent have picked up injuries. Both started against Livingston during the Premiership's opening match but Rangers need to go without them abroad as neither have travelled due to fitness concerns. Here's Glasgow Live Sport's prediction for who we think van Bronckhorst goes with.

READ MORE: Three things we learned as Rangers blues spared in Livingston by Tavernier magic as debuts assessed

Goalkeeper - McGregor

Jon McLaughlin started the first league game and we think this was with this match in mind. Allan McGregor will come in as number one here.

Defence - Tavernier, Goldson, Sands , Barisic

It's mostly the same defence as Saturday's win. The only difference is James Sands replaces Souttar, with James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Borna Barisic keeping their places. Sands can also play as a midfielder and we think this is too early for summer recruit Ben Davies, despite him travelling with his new team.

Midfield - Lundstram, Kamara, Lawrence

John Lundstram and Glen Kamara will be tasked with providing the grit in midfield while Tom Lawrence adds a creative spark.

Attack - Matondo, Colak, Tillman

Rabbi Matondo is back from injury and we believe he replaces Kent, with Malik Tillman also in for Scott Wright after his impact off the bench against Livi. Antonio Colak leads the line.
