Rangers predicted XI to face Aberdeen as Light Blues still without Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent

Rangers travel north on Sunday to take on a resurgent Aberdeen at Pittodrie, with boss Michael Beale likely to name the same side that started in last weekend's 5-2 win against St Mirren at Ibrox.

The Light Blues bounced back from the 3-2 defeat to Celtic in the Old Firm derby the previous Saturday, with a late brace from Alfredo Morelos and a goal from Scott Arfield capping the victory, after the Buddies had pulled it back to 2-2.

The Gers are 13 points adrift of Celtic at the top of the Premiership following the Hoops' draw with Motherwell on Saturday with their best chance of claiming silverware again this season coming in the Scottish Cup. Rangers take on their city rivals in the semi final on Sunday 30 April, and are looking to go one step closer in retaining the trophy which they won under previous boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst last May.

But before that game comes around, the Light Blues know they could be in for a game against an Aberdeen side this Sunday that have been rejuvenated under manager Barry Robson.

The former Scotland international has won seven of his nine matches at the helm since replacing Jim Goodwin at the end of January, with the Dons coming into this weekend's clash of the back of six consecutive league victories.

That impressive run of form has seen the Dons climb back up to third in the table, where they now sit two points clear of nearest challengers Hearts - having played a game less - following their massive 6-1 triumph over Ross County.

Boss Beale will be fully aware of the threats posed by Reds forward duo Luis Duk Lopes and Bojan Miovski, but will be keen to try and build on last weekend's win against St Mirren by making no alterations to the 11 that started that game.

Allan McGregor is expected to start in goal with a back four of Borna Barisic, Ben Davies, John Souttar and captain James Tavernier, who missed an early penalty in last Saturday's triumph at Ibrox.

January addition Nicolas Raskin is likely to start at the base of the midfield alongside John Lundstram, with the Belgian playmaker still looking for his first goal in a Rangers jersey.

Ryan Kent missed the game last weekend, and is set be left out of the line-up once more, with Fashion Sakala Jr, Todd Cantwell and Malik Tillman in the frame to support lone frontman Morelos.

The Colombian took his tally to 12 goals for the season in all competitions with his double against the Buddies last week, and with fellow striker Antonio Colak still injured, is expected to lead the line once again at Pittodrie.
