Rangers predicted XI against Celtic as huge centre back call set to go to the wire

Much of the talk in the build up to the second Old Firm derby of the season has centred around who won’t be available for both sides.

For Giovanni van Bronckhorst that includes Alfredo Morelos who flew across the Atlantic only to be left kicking his heels in the stand for Colombia.

Aaron Ramsey was then added to that list following his dramatic deadline day signing on loan from Juventus with the Welsh superstar not yet fully fit.

For a long time it was thought Joe Aribo might miss out after he went to the African Nations Cup with Nigeria.

But an early exit for Nigeria means he is available again and a guaranteed start as arguably the Ibrox side’s best performer this season.

There might have been speculation over Allan McGregor’s position after a couple of howlers in the 3-3 draw against Ross County at the weekend but Van Bronckhorst said his place isn’t in doubt.

So who will take their place in the starting line-up for a 90 minutes that could have a huge bearing on the outcome of a Scottish Premiership title race that comes with the £40 million prize of automatic Champions League group stage qualification?

Calvin Bassey or Leon Balogun in the heart of defence? New boy Amad Diallo or Fashion Sakala on the right? Kemar Roofe or Cedric Itten through the middle?

All will be revealed soon but here is Record Sport predicted XI for the showdown in the east end of Glasgow.

Predicted Rangers XI

McGregor, Tavernier, Bassey, Goldson, Barisic, Arfield, Kamara, Aribo, Diallo, Roofe, Kent
