Rangers player ratings vs St Mirren as Todd Cantwell shines and Alfredo Morelos hits double

Rangers issued the perfect response from last week's derby loss to Celtic with FIVE home goals.

After being pegged back twice by two stunners from Mark O'Hara, the Light Blues took control and fired three quick goals to run out 5-2 winners at Ibrox to send the home fans home delighted. Skipper James Tavernier was denied from the penalty spot early on after a stunning save from Buddies No1 Trevor Carson before Todd Cantwell opened the scoring. O'Hara then fired an incredible leveller to send the teams in level at the break.

Fashion Sakala was then on target for the home side with a lovely header before O'Hara expertly finished again. Alfredo Morelos - largely quiet - then notched a quick-fire double before Scott Arfield rounded off the scoring for the home side to record an emphatic win. Aberdeen are next up for Michael Beale's men before that huge Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Celtic. Here's how we rated Rangers at Ibrox.

Allan McGregor - 6

No chance with Mark O'Hara's superb double. Quiet afternoon otherwise.

James Tavernier - 7

Denied from the penalty spot after just four minutes but excellent assist for opener at Ibrox. Subbed.

John Souttar - 7

Second start on the bounce with Connor Goldson still out. Will get sharper with every passing minute.

Ben Davies - 6

Been a consistent pick under Michael Beale. Likes to start building up play from the back. Conceded five in two games alongside Souttar. Subbed.

Borna Barisic - 7

Always a threat going forward. Loves to get on overlap and deliver crosses into box. Set up Sakala goal with deep free-kick cross. Did well.

John Lundstram - 6

Good recovery in midway point of first half after a team-mate error to cut ball out on counter. Big chance with Ryan Jack out. Moved to centre-back position late on.

Nicolas Raskin - 7

Brought down by Alex Gogic after a smart run into the box to win penalty. Always looking for the ball and gets stuck in. A big player. Subbed.

Todd Cantwell - 9

January recruit continues to look sharper game by game. Numbers starting to improve and he notched second goal for club with opener in game. Also assisted Morelos's first with flicked header and Arfield's fifth. Booked.

Fashion JR - 8

Big chance to get back into the starting team ahead of Celtic semi-final and did it no harm. Excellent headed goal and always a threat. Pace and direct running gives headaches to defenders. Subbed.

Malik Tillman - 6

The one player who can produce that little piece of magic out of nothing. Beale desperate to keep him at the club long-term. Showed some excellent flashes of skill to get the home crowd off the seats. Subbed.

Alfredo Morelos - 8

Two chances and two goals in a matter of minutes. No word yet on his future either way. A cert to face Celtic at Hampden.

Subs

Rabbi Matondo - 5

A rare appearance for the Giovanni van Bronckhorst signing. Quiet start to life at Ibrox. Needs to take these big chances and did no harm with a brilliant run and assist for Morelos.

Ianis Hagi - 2

Late sub. No time to make real impact. Continues to pick up valuable minutes in recovery from long-term injury.

Scott Arfield - 7

Played his part in the fourth goal with a great ball over the top for Matondo to set-up Morelos and grabbed the fifth. Always makes a big impact when called on.

Glen Kamara - 2

On as part of a triple change with 15 minutes to play.

Leon King - 2

Brought on in final two minutes for a rare run out under Beale.
