Rangers player ratings v PSV as Colak makes Light Blues forget about Morelos and Sands comes of age

Rangers turned in a huge performance against PSV Eindhoven in their Champions League play-off second leg to win 1-0, 3-2 on aggregate and secure a group stage spot for the first time in 12 years.

Luuk de Jong and Cody Gakpo missed big chances for the home side at the end of the first half in reply to John Lundstram's raker earlier on during the opening 45 minutes. Proceedings were poised at 2-2 from the first leg at Ibrox and Rangers had grown into the second away from home, albeit letting PSV have their own way as the third of four quarters ended. Tom Lawrence then had the game's big chance after an incredible mazy run ended with a shot cracked off the bar.

Antonio Colak has lead the line this season and striking counterpart Alfredo Morelos was omitted from this squad due to attitude and fitness concerns. The Croatian proved he wasn't a miss as Malik Tillman robbed the home defence to tee him up for a tap-in on the hour mark after a tireless performance.

The American international almost turned from provider to scorer as he saw a shot blocked when it was heading goalward, but it mattered not as progress was secured. Here is how we rated the Rangers players in Holland.

Jon McLaughlin - 7

Made a couple of strong saves in the first half to help repel a storm of PSV chances and another huge one in the second.

James Tavernier - 7

A steady shift from the skipper up against top quality in Cody Gakpo, wanted for mega money at Manchester United. He didn't get much joy going forward though, although more than Borna Barisic.

Connor Goldson - 7

Was caught on the wrong side of his man a few times and was on the ropes when PSV launched a tirade of attacks, but calmed in the second half and won many aerial duels.

James Sands - 8

Couple of loose passes but the American international put in two huge challenges it seemed for each one. Looks to have found his feet at centre-back.

Borna Barisic - 6

The conundrum continues. Seemed to opt for safe passes instead of adventurous attacking balls and was on the backfoot against Ismael Salabari. Did enough in the end.

Glen Kamara - 7

Proved why his boss opted for him instead of Steven Davis. Shut down every ball and was calm when in possession.

John Lundstram - 7

Ran all the live long day and did what was required in the middle to ensure little time on the ball for his opponents.

Tom Lawrence - 7

A mazy run from the Welshman almost provided a Goal of the Season contender as he proved an attacking threat for PSV to deal with.

Malik Tillman - 8

Very quiet display in the first half but that changed in the second. Several nice touches and tenacity created the opening for Colak. Looks a bright talent.

Ryan Kent - 6

Few and far between in terms of positive attacking plays, albeit there were a couple. One shot into the side-netting and forced to play more defensively with Rangers having less possession than domestically.

Antonio Colak - 9

The Croatian didn't stop running and showed all the qualities Morelos hasn't this week. In the right place to score his fifth goal already this term. A new hero emerging?

Scott Wright - 4

Almost in behind instantly after replacing Lawrence. Did do so moments later and was cynically hacked down.

Scott Arfield - 4

Provided calm to the storm as tensions grew along with the nerves that were inevitable.

Fashion Sakala - 2

Stoppage time sub for Colak.
