Rangers player ratings as timeless Steven Davis rolls back the years against PSV

Rangers and PSV ensured it is all to play for in Eindhoven next Wednesday after the pair played out to a 2-2 draw in their crunch Champions League playoff first leg.

A lot was expected of Gio van Bronckhorst 's side with Ibrox being a fortress in Europe over the past 12 months but they failed to capitalise on that. Ibrahim Sangare put the Eredivise side into the lead but that only lasted three minutes when Antonio Colak fired back with a sublime finish.

Rangers came from behind to lead the tie after a goalkeeping howler before they failed to clear a set piece which allowed Armando Obispo a free header to equalise late on. A potential £40 million prize awaits the winner. Here is how Record Sport rated the players.

Rangers player ratings

Jon McLaughlin : Raced from his line to deny Max at 2-2 and that save could yet prove crucial in the context of the tie. 6

James Tavernier : The captain led by example with yet another assist and also coped well defensively with the undoubted threat of Gakpo. 7

Connor Goldson : Could have done better at PSV goals but did well in a real physical battle with de Jong. 6

James Sands : A massive vote of confidence for the young American who was given the nod on the left side of the defence. 7

Borna Barisic : Guilty of being sucked into the middle of the pitch at times, allowing Saibari space to cause problems on the Gers left. 6

Steven Davis : The veteran midfielder was entrusted to bring calmness and composure amid the madness and barely wasted a pass. Also involved in first goal and justified his selection. 8

John Lundstram : Big man got through a power of work in the middle of the park, working so effectively in tandem with Davis. 8

Malik Tillman : Always looking to break beyond Colak and in flashes was sharp and skilful although he did tire before being replaced by Wright. 7

Tom Lawrence : Started the move for Colak’s goal and looked to get on the end of things before getting the bonus of his free kick going in. 7

Ryan Kent : A return from injury for the man who has been so vital so often in Europe and had a real battle with the impressive Teze. 6

Antonio Colak : The big Croat kept the jersey after scoring three in the last three games and justified the decision with a sensational finish. 7

Subs

Scott Wright : Replaced Tillman for the last 20 minutes. 2

Glen Kamara : On for Davis to add fresh legs to midfield. 3
