Rangers will play in the USA in the lucrative Club World Cup in two years' time if they clinch their place in the expanded tournament, after FIFA announced it will be held in America.
The Ibrox side are currently in line to be one of 12 teams from UEFA who would play in the money-spinning event in June and July 2025.
As things stand, Rangers would qualify for one of the dozen European spots on offer based on their coefficient ranking from the past three years - which includes last year's run to the Europa League Final, although the upcoming season's results will also be used.
Michael Beale's side have a far higher coefficient than Celtic due to their recent results in Europe and only one club per country can qualify meaning teams with a higher coefficient than Rangers would miss out and open the door for the Ibrox club.
The tournament is estimated to be worth as much as a minimum of £25 million per team after being upgraded from its current seven-team format and FIFA have just announced the venues will be based in the USA, at cities yet to be confirmed.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino stated: "The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will be the pinnacle of elite professional men’s club football, and with the required infrastructure in place together with massive local interest, the United States is the ideal host to kick off this new, global tournament.
"With some of the world’s top clubs already qualified, fans from every continent will be bringing their passion and energy to the United States in two years’ time for this significant milestone in our mission to make football truly global.”
The format for a Club World Cup has yet to be decided, although it's been suggested that all 32 teams will be guaranteed at least three games each playing in eight groups of four. The eight group winners could then advance to the quarter finals.
