Rangers party mum bottled Glasgow cop in George Square rammy

A mum-of-four hit a police officer over the head with a glass bottle during the Rangers title party.

Stephanie Donaldson, 30, hurled the bottle at the officer, who was part of a cordon in Glasgow's George Square, on May 15, 2021.

Thousands of jubilant Gers fans had gathered earlier that day to celebrate the club's first Scottish Premiership title win in a decade.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that an order for dispersal had been made at 8.40pm, which had also been posted on social media.

CCTV was gathered after the event which was reviewed by police.

Prosecutor Laura Bradley said: "Donaldson was shown throwing a glass bottle at a police officer.

"It smashed as the bottle hit the police officer's helmet."

Donaldson was caught after police received anonymous information that she was responsible.

The mum-of-four, of Ayr, was eventually cautioned and charged.

She pled guilty yesterday to culpable and reckless conduct.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by sheriff Iain Fleming.

He told Donaldson: "You should not construe that the fact you have been granted bail that you will avoid a custodial sentence."
