Rangers No3 Robby McCrorie 'set' to join Scotland squad for Ireland and Armenia Nations League games

Robby McCrorie is set to join up with the Scotland squad for the two remaining Nations League games, according to a report.

The Rangers keeper will link up with Steve Clarke's side for the double-header away trips at the Republic of Ireland and Armenia say the Scottish Sun.

The Ibrox No3 has previously been in the squad back in 2020 after impressing during a loan spell at Livingston.

McCrorie only made two top team starts for Rangers last season against Alashkert in the Europa League and in the Old Firm derby with Celtic.

He was handed the gloves due to Covid issues at the club ruling Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin both out of contention.

McCrorie was part of a Scotland training squad last month to help the team ahead of the World Cup semi-final play-off with Ukraine.

And his displays in the sessions convinced Clarke and goalkeeper coach Chris Woods he deserved a place in the pool after David Marshall called time on his Scotland career.

The Hibs new boy will now focus on club football after picking up 47 caps for his country including the memorable penalty shootout win over Serbia that sent the Tartan Army to Euro 2020.

McCrorie, who earned seven caps at Under-21 level, will now battle with Motherwell star Liam Kelly and St Johnstone’s Zander Clark to be back-up to No1 Craig Gordon.
