Jobi McAnuff says Swansea City's Morgan Whittaker would be a "brilliant" signing for Rangers.
The Scottish Premiership outfit have already had a bid for the 22-year-old rejected by the Swans this month, and it remains to be seen where Whittaker's future lies at present.
He excelled during his loan spell with Plymouth Argyle, scoring nine times and registering seven assists for the League One leaders.
He is yet to play for Swansea since being recalled from his season-long loan deal with the Pilgrims owing to the fact that an appearance for Russell Martin's side would end his chances of moving away this month - aside from what would be an unlikely return to Home Park.
And McAnuff admits he's surprised Whittaker does not have more admirers from sides challenging for promotion from the Championship given his form with Steven Schumacher's outfit in the first-half of the 2022/23 campaign.
“He’s a top, top young player. He’s been out on loan at Plymouth where’s he got nine goals and seven assists," McAnuff said on Sky Sports News.
“He can play wide right or just behind the striker. He scores important goals, he’s a great dribbler and carries the ball well. He’s a fluid player who links into the attack very well and he’s got a fantastic left foot.
“I know Plymouth were devastated to lose him when he got recalled by Swansea. I’m a little bit surprised by this one.
"I thought there'd have been some real top-end Championship interest in him at least because he has that huge potential to go on and have a really good career. If Rangers pull this off it’s a brilliant signing for them.”
