Rangers & Man Utd fans clash in Manchester ahead of match

A small group of Manchester United and Rangers fans clashed in Manchester city centre ahead of tonight's Europa League clash.

Video footage has emerged online claiming to show a small number of supporters from either club involved in the confrontation.

From the clip, objects appeared to be thrown before a handful of police officers stepped in to try and defuse the tension, believed to be on Great Ancoats Street.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment regarding the disorder.

Rangers fans marched from the city centre out to Old Trafford under the supervision of police earlier this evening.

Thousands of supporters could be seen enjoying themselves ahead of tonight's encounter.

Around 3,700 Gers fans will be situated in the away end at Old Trafford, while more are expected to be in the home ends.

More to follow.
