Rangers 'looking' to sign ex-Liverpool midfielder in loan deal

Rangers are reportedly interested in bringing former Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark to Ibrox on loan.

The Glasgow club were interested in Clark in the summer, but the move never came to fruition. The 19-year-old then left Liverpool in a £6m move to Red Bull Salzburg, linking uo with ex-Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders at the Austrian champions.

The Dutch gaffer has since been sacked from his position, with Clark now struggling for game time under new boss, Thomas Lesch.

Salzburg made two signings from Liverpool in the summer, with both Clark and Stefan Bajcetic joining the club. Ljinders' departure threw a spanner in the works for the players, both of whom have since been relegated to the bench.

Primarily a midfielder, Clark has made 20 appearances in all competitions for Salzburg this season, with his last five coming from the bench following the arrival of Lesch.

The Englishman made a name for himself as an emerging talent out of Liverpool’s academy. He made 12 appearances in his last season with the Anfield side, scoring a goal and assisting another against Sparta Prague in the Europa League round of 16.

Rangers are competing with English Championship sides Swansea City, Hull City and Derby County for the midfielder’s signature, reports DaveOCKOP. However, it is currently unclear if Salzburg will sanction the potential loan move.

Clark has made six appearances in the Champions League this season but would still be eligible for registration in the knockout stages of the Europa League.
