Kieran Dowell continues to thrive in the Midlands since his January loan switch from Rangers, and his performance in Birmingham City’s 4-0 victory over Mansfield highlighted just how valuable he’s become to Chris Davies’ side.
The win saw champions Birmingham set a new English League One points record, reaching an impressive 105 points with two games still to play.
Dowell, who has now made 21 appearances for the Blues, played a key role in this historic home triumph.
After first-half goals from Keshi Anderson and Willum Willumsson, Dowell added his name to the scoresheet in the second half, heading home Paik Seung-ho’s cross to put the Blues 3-0 up.
His cheeky back-heel assist for Tomoki Iwata’s goal seven minutes later was a perfect example of his creativity and composure on the ball.

Dowell is contracted to Rangers until the summer of 2026, but it’s unclear whether he will get the chance to impress the next permanent manager at Ibrox.
Reports suggest Birmingham are interested in signing the midfielder permanently.
