Rangers allow Partick Thistle to score in Scottish Cup tie after Malik Tillman 'lack of sportsmanship' sparks fury

Rangers allowed Partick Thistle to walk the ball in as bizarre scenes followed Malik Tillman's scored controversial goal to give the hosts the lead – after great sport Michael Beale stepped in.

The Championship side led through a Kevin Holt first-half penalty which was cancelled out soon after the break - much to the relief of a frustrated Beale. James Tavernier then missed a penalty in a game fraught with talking points, but the most surreal scenes were yet to come.

Rangers had put the ball out of play after Malik Tillman went down injured and Thistle took the resulting throw-in, with the apparent intention of Kevin Holt giving Rangers the ball-back. Before he could get the pass out of his feet, though, Tillman nipped in and stole the ball before rounding Jamie Sneddon to score. Furious scenes ensued and after a brief stoppage, Rangers boss Beale told his players to allow Scott Tiffoney to take the ball up the park and equalise to level the Scottish Cup tie up.
