Barry Ferguson has resigned from his post as Alloa Athletic manager after a disappointing season so far at the League One club.
The former Rangers midfielder took over as Wasps boss in the summer following a three-year stint at ambitious League Two club Kelty Hearts.
Alloa had just been relegated to the SPFL's third tier and were expected to push for an immediate return, but they find themselves languishing in eighth.
Ferguson has oversaw the club over 25 league matches with just six win, a 3-1 loss at home to basement club East Fife on Saturday proving the final straw.
Hailing from Hamilton, Ferguson enjoyed huge success as a player with Rangers and represented Scotland 45 times, on top of spells at Blackburn, Birmingham City and Blackpool.
Wasps Chairman Mike Mulraney said “I have huge respect for Barry and appreciate the effort he has given the club this season.
"Whilst I share Barry’s disappointment in our performances over the last few weeks I have nothing but praise for his endeavour and commitment to the club in his time with us.
"His professionalism and dedication has been a credit to him and he leaves with our best wishes and thanks.”
