Rangers legend in Alfredo Morelos transfer confession as he admits 'I'd be encouraging bids'

Rangers legend Arthur Numan has urged his former club to encourage bids for Alfredo Morelos ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

The Colombian hitman was dropped by Giovanni van Bronckhorst last week for the huge PSV Champions League play-off return in the Netherlands for various reasons, including fitness levels and his attitude in the early part of the campaign. It came off the back of a red card just 13 minutes after his introduction against Hibs at Easter Road.

The Ibrox gaffer said he would hold talks with the Light Blues striker - who has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Ibrox. He also reiterated he knows what he needs to do to get back into the squad and that his reaction since his axing has been 'very positive'.

But with the transfer window entering the final days and hours ahead of slamming shut come midnight on Thursday night, former life-back, Numan has weighed in on the Morelos situation. He reckons it is time to see what fee they can get for the striker in what he has labelled 'an interesting few days'.

He wrote in his 5 Stars column: “He would have been at home last week in Scotland watching the PSV game, hopefully full of regrets that he’d made a huge mistake. He should have been with the squad, helping them with their biggest game in more than a decade.

"But he was dropped by Giovanni and left behind. After several warnings, Giovanni drew the line.

"Giovanni had had enough of the striker’s bad attitude and ill discipline, on and off the field. I’m not sure what the future holds for Alfredo but I’d definitely be encouraging other clubs to bid for him, test the market and see what fee might be out there.

“His value may not be as high as it should be because clubs are aware they’d be taking a ‘risk’ with him. However, he is still worth a lot of money.

“It could well be that Rangers still decide to give him a new contract and keep him. A fit and firing Alfredo is a top striker, let’s not forget.

"But he needs to change his ways. The manager and the players don’t want anyone about Ibrox that may risk ruining all the good work that’s going on.

"It’s going to be an interesting few days for Alfredo.”
