Rangers legend Fernando Ricksen's wife shares sweet tribute video of family snaps

The heartbroken wife of Fernando Ricksen says everyday is more difficult without her beloved husband.

Veronika, 33, posted an emotional tribute video remembering the Rangers legend on Instagram last night.

She captioned the heartbreaking watch: "Every day is more difficult without you my love. I need you here with me every day. #Ricksen #Nevergiveup"

The brave former midfielder lost his six-year battle with the disease at an Airdrie hospice on September 18.

Thousands lined streets in Glasgow on the day of his  funeral  a fortnight ago.

As the hearse carrying the Dutchman’s coffin was taken past Ibrox , crowds chanted, “There’s only one Fernando Ricksen”.

Following his death, and told of her pride at her beloved partner's bravery in fighting his terminal illness.

Alongside a picture of the couple with their daughter Isabella, wrote on Instagram: "Most difficult time in my life, without you my love.

"I still can’t believe in that, and never will, because you always will be my best husband and most beautiful man in my life.

"I can’t tell you how proud I’m of you, for this hardest battle in your life, but you are the winner and always will be for all people who fighting this horrible diseases.

"My star shine bright for us please, me and our little angel Isabella look at you every single day. We love you to the moon and back."

Speaking in the aftermath of his funeral at Glasgow's Wellington Church last Wednesday, mum-of-one Veronika said she tells their daughter Isabella how her 'Pappy is a star in the sky'.

She added: “We’ve told her he’s a star now.

"Every evening, we go outside and I pick the brightest star and say, ‘Look, Isabella, Pappy is looking down at you.’ Once she said she could see his face and it broke my heart.

“She will grow up without a dad and that hurts. It’s so hard. She’s still so little."
