Arsenal are said to be out in front for signing exciting Rangers full-back Jack Wylie.
The English Premier League side 'have been monitoring the full-back and have had him watched regularly over the past few months' according to the Daily Record. They claim that their chief youth spy Lee Herron was sent to Spain last month 'to keep tabs' on the 15-year-old Ibrox talent as he played for Scotland U16s in a friendly clash with Denmark.
Not eligible to sign his professional forms until he turns 16 in January, there is a 'worry' at Ibrox that they could lose another of their promising academy talents should Arsenal - managed at senior level by former midfielder Mikel Arteta - formalise interest in Wylie. Rangers have already had to reluctantly part with one of their top products this year, forced to accept a £350,000 bid from Aston Villa earlier this year. They also made big money when Nathan Patterson joined Everton in January.
Back at Auchenhowie, the Ibrox club's youngsters are continuing to develop, with action in the UEFA Youth League and a 'B' team featuring at Lowland League level.
Their latest Youth League encounter brought a 4-1 loss to Liverpool, coach David McCallum telling Rangers TV: "We’ve just played a really good team.
"The consistency aspect was hard for us. We knew when we won the ball back, we wouldn’t have a lot of time to play, we had to be better at times, so we didn’t turn goals over so quickly.
