Rangers 'launch move' for rising star with £1.5m offer

Rangers have reportedly made a bid for Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane.

Reports from the North African country suggest that Philippe Clement is keen on the 21-year-old forward player.

And the Scottish Sun claims that the Ibrox club has launched an offer for the FAR Rabat player worth £1.5m.

Igamane can play on the wing as well as in the no.9 position and scored seven goals in 20 first-team games last season.

He has yet to be called up to the Morocco A team, however, is a regular for their Under-23s.

The report states that Igamane is viewed as a player who can have an impact in Scottish football.

If a deal goes through then he could join Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande as the club's new signings.

The likes of Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Borna Barisic have all left.

The Ibrox club also looks set to benefit from Connor Barron's departure from Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen.

The Scotland U21 star is a free agent after the expiry of his contract at Pittodrie. A number of clubs are interested in signing the young midfielder.

Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard has sealed a Rangers reunion at Al-Ettifaq after the Saudi club announced Andy Firth has joined as assistant goalkeeping coach.

The former Ibrox stopper was named assistant goalkeeping coach by the Saudi Pro League club on Saturday evening after John Achenbeisg was announced as head coach for the goalkeepers.

Firth, 27, worked under Gerrard at Rangers and knew the manager from his time at Liverpool.

After leaving Rangers, Firth signed for Welsh side Connah's Quay Nomads where he played 32 times last season.

However, it appears Firth will transition into full-time coaching with the surprise announcement naming him in a backroom position in Saudi Arabia.
